Whimsy by the Peaks is a cosy dog friendly stone cottage (sleeps up to 5) in the thriving Derbyshire Dales village of Tansley on the edge of the Peak District National Park. Go on long walks straight from the door along country lanes and tracks, or relax in the enclosed garden with dining terrace and lovely rural views.
Two excellent dog friendly pubs serve food in the village - the Gate Inn, a few minutes walk, and the Tavern. Matlock town and train station is a short drive. The cottage is also within half an hour of Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and Hardwick Hall by car.
The cottage
The cottage has three bedrooms sleeping up to 5 people: two doubles (one has a superking-size double 180x200cm that can also be set up as a twin beds, and the other is a queen -160x200cm), and a ground floor single accessed up two steps.
There is an entrance hall at the side with space for coats and boots, a large kitchen with a convivial farmhouse dining table, a sitting room with two sofas and a log burner, and an upstairs shower room with sink and toilet.
Outside there's a private enclosed garden with a dining terrace, a sunset sitting area with hillside views. and an area of natural lawn perfect for dogs (no toxic plastic in sight!).
Your private parking space is directly in front of the house, just off the shared drive. It has a 7KW EV charging point (Pay as You Go using the Voltshare app or website).

THINGS TO DO
Country walks on your doorstep
Go for a stroll down to the stream, a hike up the hill into the woods, or do the Lumley waterfalls loop, stopping off in Matlock for a coffee.
Famous country houses
Take your pick of Chatsworth, Haddon Hall, or Hardwick Hall. Magnificient mansions and gardens to explore, all within 30 minutes drive.
The Peak District National Park
Drive up into the National Park for iconic moorland scenery, fabulous hiking & mountain biking, and famous sites such as Dovedale's stepping stones, Padley Gorge, and Edale.
Quaint market towns & villages
Potter around the independent shops and alley ways of Bakewell, Wirksworth, and Ashbourne. Try a tea shop in delightful Tissington, Castleton or Eyam.
Cosy dog friendly pubs
Wander up to our local, the Gate Inn, for drinks on the terrace or a delicious pub meal. They do take away too! The Tavern at the bottom of the village is good too.

Matlock & Matlock Bath
Matlock's bars, restaurants & fabulous chippy are just a short drive over the hill. Or drive over to Matlock Bath for a walk along the canal or a ride up to Abraham's Heights in the cable car.
